Good Morning !!!
Here's another book of my mum's collection.
I'll let you see some excerpts of an old 3-Suisses knitting book.
In those days, you found a lot of yarn-shops and 3Suisses was a well known one.
They had later also a "post-order" for wool and yarns, but right now,
the only 3Suisses that still exists ... is the postorder-catalogue with ready made stuff of all kind.
Nothing creative anymore.
So let's go back in time and have some fun
Well, the kind of cat will still run somewhere ...
and I'm really happy I don't have to make such haircut
like the lady with the purple jumper !!
Or one of these hairstyles ....
you see right now also some really intricated hairdo on the catwalks,
and there is also a lot of backcomb to see ....
but this looks very very stiff and were supposed to inspire
daily working mothers and women.
Okay, times are changed, we'll look at the jersey !
The left 'chanel-looking' jacket : will do it now also
The white and black stripe : up to date for this summer,
except the collar: in my eyes, it looks too well-behaved
(might have a little decolleté o-))
Here's next :
Blue-sky was IN that year ....
those stripes left : how would your hips look ?
I'm not wearing size 0, so I wouldn't wear it.
As well as the jacket on the right = not flattering at all in my opinion.
Did women really knit and wear this ?
That green cape .... argh ... it's like an umbrella !
The little jumper on the left in an actual nice
bamboo, cotton or other natural fiber ....
yes, that would be not to bad,
but it would need some uplifting detail like these from
the new collection of Bergère de France ...
You see the difference ?
Also in the posture of the models
They're much more natural now in comparison with the old magazine where everything looks so statically !
Look at this mother-daughter , couple ...
But you know what really catched my eye in this little book ???
This is it : the table with the measures and sizes.
I put an actual size-tabel from a catalogue-postorder company besides,
so you notice the differences ....
And you have to know, that the size 44 in those days is
....something between 38 and 42 ... now,
depends on the fact if it got to fit your boob or hip !
Or reverse : if you have actually a size 42,
you would have had in those days to look for clothes in 44-48 !!!
Reason ? probably psychological ...
even with average people becoming taller every century,
it's rather flattering to say that I'm wearing a size 40 i.o. a 44 ....
Have a nice day, in whatever which size you'll knit for next season !!!!
