Just finished knitting another outfit for little baby-to-be-born end of summer.

I took Drops Cotton Light in a blue-jean color and a pattern from LanaGrossa.

With needles n° 4, it’s been very fast to knit.

Hope future mum will love it; and future dad too.
I think Baby will be too young to appreciate it…

  • hooked scarf

Remember my hooked hexagon-scarf? If not … click here.

Well look here … Nadine made one on the same setting/pattern but with little rounds instead of stars.

    roze sjaal.jpg

Found it so nice, it is worth to be shown because that settings works as well for squares, hexagons, circles … anything!

    Bravo to Nadine, via ViDerTextil

  • preview 1

This has been a nice sunny warm delicious relaxed eastern weekend!

And I had so the idea to give you a sneak preview of my next book.

Every Monday, I’ll show you a picture of one of my shawls, especially made for it.

The only tricky thing is … that you’ll have to wait to make it yourself till 25th of august …

I’ll start with Gianni: a beautiful warm passionate red with white pearls in.

Hope this will be a nice week for you all!

Quand on cout ensemble cela donne cet effet.

    Joli non ?

This will be the last part of my trip to Köln for the H&H Fair.

I’ll talk about some brands with very beautiful yarns …

    First: LANG .

    13 lang.jpg

They had a very nice dressed booth, a gorgeous show on stage, with a sublime vest in intarsia (grey-lilac-blue tones – in the middle of second picture). This jacket is my absolute favorite from this brand.  I already did some knitting with JawollMagic, and they have such beautiful shades and colors…  I love the new models and designs and wouldn’t know where to start.

    13 lang 2.jpg

Then we come to OnLine from Germany which has such beautiful tones of red (my favorite one) and I liked the details in their vest-collars.

    15 online.jpg

    15 online 2.jpg

At RicoDesign … they had a wonderful décor with little baby clothes, and my grandma’s heart loved it.

Very vivid colors were seen at Schoeller+Stahl. Look at the blues and orange-reds! And how joyful the models were on the stage!

    17 schoeller stahl.jpg

In all of these pictures I showed in my postings this last week, there are some things repeating, and that is a lot of cables and designs created with simple stitches, all in very noble yarns: merino, alpaca, and pure wool … so soft to touch and wear!

So far the yarns I loved and I would like to knit (too much, I’ve got to stay reasonable …)

Click on the names of the brand to get to their websites.

And for the finish, some presentations of material, beautiful boards with buttons, thread, always in nice color schemes, or a flowers-in-the-garden-board, and what do you think of those tubes of paint?

I’m happy I could visit that fair and see all the new trends we’ll have in the shops for next winter. I also hope that you enjoyed it too!

  • défi'13 ... corail

    b77c2958f4f0e539ac8cb9e1d7391195.jpg

Question d’humeur sans doute …

    3.jpg

    5.JPG

Voilà, j’ai conjuré le sort du 13 !!!

    Et vous ?

Other booths with yarn that were beautiful (in my own eyes, because I know that taste can differ a lot…) is the one from Opal (every year they have a special décor!) and LanaGrossa.

Opal has a big area and as they are well known from their socks wool, you see of course a lot of socks.
This year they had dressed the table, ready for a socks-dinner, with colorful yarn in different designs.

    6 opal1.jpg

Also some garments, to show that this yarn is not only nice for sock-knitting, but also in any possible other cloth.

Some socks, very modern, less wearable perhaps, but a fun design might also please the customer.

And what about me? I’ll take some champagne please …

    6 opal2.jpg

They are also going “green” with a natural woolen touch.

    6 opal goes green.jpg

As well as seen in several other booths.
Many natural wool were presented and knitted in cable designs, and even in a simple jersey stitch, it looks good. It’s also timeless, you can wear it now, next year, within twenty years, it will still be beautiful and “in”.

    7 natural.jpg

Time for some pic’s taken for the presentation. Up we had a nice bear looking at us and on the ground we found some trolls in felt, nice little creatures, aren’t they?

    8 presentation 1.jpg

What do you think of this doggy show?

    8 presentation 2 doggyshow.jpg

This walk brought me in another lane of the fair to Mondial from Italy. My opinion is that this year I passed rather quickly.
They have nice wool; people are going to love it, a lot of thick special yarn, but not for the knitter like me.
It’s sensational to see with one skein and your hand to make a big chain-stitch and it’s becoming a shawl in no time, but I don’t find that ‘knitting a scarf’. Then they have also the special thread that makes a grid and when you knit or crochet it, you obtain waves in it. Nice, as I said, a lot of customers will buy it, but again, not for me. And the wool that makes me feel like Bibendum … no I’ll pass.

Look at their website for more information if you’re interested (click here and see the video down the page)

    9 mondial.jpg

There was not only knitting, also a lot of interesting crochet motifs. Grannies are definitely IN!

    10 crochet.jpg

A new brand I didn’t know is Jarbo … special presentation. the antlers of a deer on top of the head of the model in her knitted wedding dress … MMMMM … special, very special, but their wool was gorgeous and look at the shawl … very beautiful.

    11 jarbo.jpg

    And then … LanaGrossa.
A beautiful show on stage, a perfect finish of their models with sense of details, a lot of classical colors, but such deep blues, greys, even the black has got shades.
I loved the big poster where the model is sitting on a big ball of yarn, holding KnitPro knitting pins (distributed here also by Prym).

The booth of Coats is a “compilation” of several brands.
And from country to country you’ll find different ones.
Here in Belgium you’ll find, besides their “Coats-goods”, Schachenmayr, Gedifra, Opti, Anchor.
In Germany and the UK for ex. you’ll have also Rowan, Regia, Maya, Free Spirit, Patons …

    1 coats anchor fabrics.jpg

So very much to see and to discover!

The beautiful knitwear from Kaffe Fassett, the socks-wool from Regia (some new yarn-designs are coming up to the shops), the fabrics of Fassett, Amy Butler (signing her books in Köln), and all the others from Free Spirit

    1 coats rowan regia.jpg

Fabrics are still with a lot of flowers, bold and bright, and there is definitely a mix of sewing and crochet-knitwear in the garments!
    Trends in knitwear are
    - a lot of intarsia, as we are used with Kaffe, but it is a trend that is blowing over to most other brands, especially with the upcoming of all Scandinavian yarn-manufactures.
    - also a lot of lace, fine lightweight and translucent knitwear.

This brings me to a special news item!

The publishing of my second book
25th of August is the date to remember…
this book also made with the French editor Didier Carpentier,
    and about what ?????
More than 25 shawls and stoles in lace-knitting.
    The ISBN is
    978-2-84167-731-3.

The fair is also a place with some special exhibitions, and this year the wow-moment was for this Iraqi Embroidery.

    2 iraqi embroidery2.jpg

My favorite yarn was also present: Malabrigo with all those beautiful warm colors as well as these subtle soft tones from Manos del Uruguay

    3 malabrigo manos-uruguay.jpg

You’re not hungry?  Because there were a lot of tasty appetizing presentations … mmm … just looking, not eating!!

To end for today’s posting, this new design in socks wool from Schoppel Wolle,
it’s just looking so misty muddy mottled marbled …

    5 schoppel wolle.jpg

They had special guests on their stand,
    high in the air ... socks-monkey … o-)
